Maintenance of golf course parking lots

Perma-Patch is an excellent material for the improvement and maintenance of golf course parking lots and cart paths. Pathways and parking lots do not need to be closed off for extended periods. Perma-Patch can be opened to traffic immediately after placement.

Widen an existing cart path

Here Perma-Patch will be used to widen an existing cart path over difficult terrain. Not only has the edge of the existing path eroded, but the grade and location of the path severely restricts the size of equipment that can be used on the project. Heavy equipment and trucks that can damage delicate turf and irrigation and drainage lines are not required. 50 bagged pallets of Perma-Patch have been strategically placed along the side of the path for easy access. These pallets were transported with a rubber tired masonry forklift. The ground has been excavated using a small mini skid steer such as a Toro Dingo.
Perma-Patch may be placed directly on the ground because the base is compact and free of topsoil. A bed of at least 3 inches of crusher run is recommended where the base is soft and/or contains topsoil. To keep the border of the path tidy and to discourage cars from driving off the path, an edge is recommended. Here the workers are setting an edge using 10 foot lengths of 4×4 pressure treated lumber held in place by 12 inch spikes. Metal edging also makes a very satisfactory border, particularly where a sharp radius curve is planned. A plate compactor is used to compact the ground before Perma-Patch is poured.
Since Perma-Patch is being placed along an existing path, it is necessary to clean the edge of the abutting pavement, but no tack coat or other adhesive is required. This ensures solid adhesion to the edge of the adjoining path. Perma-Patch is placed in 3 inch lifts prior to compaction. Crusher run could have been substituted for the base layer. After Perma-Patch is poured from its 60 pound bag, the area is leveled with a simple hand rake and the surface compacted using a portable plate compactor. A surface lift of Perma-Patch is placed over the compacted base and raked level. The second layer is then compacted to a level approximately 1 1/2 inches below the 4×4 form. The finished cart path is now ready for use and can be immediately opened to traffic.

Fill shallow depressions

Perma-Patch can also be used to fill shallow depressions and deteriorating portions of existing pavement to correct irregular and bumpy rides. Depressions that collect water can be filled without removing the water. In fact, a good time to locate and fill such depressions is right after a rainstorm or irrigation of the course.
